Our Best Shot
Our only shot to be immune to the disease that changed our way of living. In December of 2019, a new strain of pathogen has been detected in Wuhan, China. Now it spreads chaos around the globe, the World Health Organization announced that we are now in the state of a pandemic, it truly changed our lives.
We conti
nue to follow all the necessary health protocols for us to
stay safe, but I believe these aren’t enough to ensure our utmost protection
against the virus, especially if we are infected with it. According to the
Center for Disease Control, a vaccine is our best shot to guarantee immunity
against pathogens, which include the covid-19 virus. Though some people believe
that the vaccine is just a hoax, anti-vaxers holding protests against being
vaccinated. Large pharmaceutical companies did thorough research in developing
vaccines, like Pfizer and Moderna which proved very effective in combating
covid-19.
Many people are afraid to be vaccinated because of the underlying
side effects it may cause. Logically and scientifically speaking, a vaccine is
the only thing that gives us immunity because it induces our body to make
certain antibodies to fight the pathogens entering our body. Scientists and
Researchers would not be keen on the vaccine if it’s harmful, but the reason
they are making vaccines for the population is that they have done lots of
extensive, carefully oriented studies and trials to ensure that the vaccine we
are using is safe.
We experience side effects because it is a sign that the vaccine is
working, our immune system is creating the anti-bodies that will be present in
our body forever, with that we can be immunized, ensuring 100% protection
against covid-19. I would be willing to subject myself and be vaccinated
as long as it is a vaccine that is entrusted by health professionals and the
national government.
