The Cross Before Me

As members of the Catholic Church celebrate the so-called Holy Week, to commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is a very important season in the beliefs and faith shared among catholic members. Though the usual way of celebrating the Lenten Season with huge processions of different patron saints, or visiting churches, will be vastly different because of the underlying covid-19 pandemic.

Filipinos are known to be very religious thanks to the influence of the Spaniards. We have grown to embrace this as our belief and faith. 6000 years ago when Christ came to earth to save us from sin. As said in John 3:16 that God gave his only son because he loves us all. Until now we haven’t forgotten the day Christ died at Mount Calvary, being risen from the dead until we wait again when we all go with him in paradise. Lenten Season celebrates all of these, the love that God and Jesus showed us. Following the examples of Jesus Christ, taking up the cross and follow him, no matter how the world thinks, we all decide to follow Jesus.

No matter what problems we face like the pandemic, we should not worry ourselves for we have a God that’s looking after us, protecting us from going into harm's way. This Lenten season may be different but it won’t change the faith we have for God. These challenges strengthen our bonds with God, enduring forevermore, after all,
we can all do things through Christ who strengthens us. We continue to practice our beliefs, in uplifting and strengthening our faith until we meet him one day.
