Us humans
being the superior of all living things here on earth, we possess the ultimate
power, and that power comes with a responsibility to care for all God-given
things that rest upon and call earth their home. However our own shortcomings
threaten their very existence, as we progress to improve our lives, we don’t
realize that there are those who suffer from it. Our thirst for improvement and
comfort is draining and sucking the life power of all our flora and fauna. Keeping
them from flourishing, gently fading away till they cease to exist and just end
up being written down in our history books. Now should be the time we take hold
of our duties as stewards of God’s creation because all forms of life are
important. From biodiversities to the ecosystem, all must be protected from the
actions mankind has inflicted upon them.
Ecosystems
are geographical areas where living and non-living things coexist, both
interact with each other to thrive. Our ecosystem plays a very significant role
in the way we are living. Through different regions and various geographical
settings of our planet, the ecosystems that exist are diverse, each with its
own unique characteristics. Ecosystems can exist in the forest, desert, and
even underwater. Despite the diversity of our ecosystems, they all play the
same significant role. Ecosystems provide habitat to animals, it is also where
they get sources for food and nutrients in order for them to live. Making
various relationships between living things happen, like the food chains and
food webs, the energy cycle, and many more. Our ecosystems also help in
regulating the climate, also helps in maintaining soil, water, and air quality.
The things we are doing right now
like deforestation, illegal logging, illegal mining, dynamite fishing, just to
name a few. These factors cause great harm to our ecosystems because they
destroy the very foundation an ecosystem has. Disrupting the continuous relationship
among all organisms, causing great dilemma that results in habitat destruction,
species being endangered, loss of biodiversity, extinction, and even climate
change. With these being destroyed, we suffer huge consequences as we humans
are directly responsible for the abnormalities in our ecosystem and life
overall.
Life as
we know of is beautiful and meaningful, we all depend and live for it. We, humans, are life itself, with superior minds and knowledge among all other
life forms. We should not deprive others of living their own life to the
fullest, be it from the smallest microbes to the frightening apex predators.
It is our duty to help, preserve, protect and defend our ecosystems. It is full
of diverse life that coexists with each other, having mutual relationships that
we all define as the circle of life. Humans benefit from that as they are also
part of life, we are there to ensure that life goes on. If we don’t take action
against the threats that may rapture the bonds that make all life connected,
our whole point of existence will be meaningless. Together we can create a
stronger bond that will make us more connected towards all life in order to
help them grow and be prosperous so that we can have a brighter and meaningful
feature ahead of us.
